* Ripe kadbel can be recognized by its scent. Before buying, hold it close to your nose. Ripe kadbel exudes a scent. If it doesn't have much of a scent, it's not ripe.

* Take the kadebele in your hand and try it. If it feels heavy, it is not ripe.

* Make a sound with an iron object on the kadbel. You will see that the sound of a seasoned kadbel will be less intense than the sound of a raw kadbel.

* The buds of ripe kadbel will be yellowish. The buds of unripe kadbel are usually whitish-green.

* Shake the kadbel. If the inside seems to move, it is cooked. If nothing moves inside, there is a high risk that it is raw.
