1. Proper ventilation is essential to avoid heat buildup inside. Use a lid on the tank that allows heat to escape.
2. Cover the tank with a large, good-quality plastic cover. 
3. Keep the tank in a shaded area. For example, under a canopy or roof covering, the tank will not be exposed to direct sunlight. This will keep the water cool.
4. Black tanks are seen in most homes. Black absorbs more heat. Using a white or light-colored tank reflects sunlight, which helps keep the temperature lower. 
5. You can use a jute bag to cover the tank. Soak the jute bag and cover the tank. Jute does not allow heat to be absorbed. So the water will remain normal and cool.
6. The water in the tank will not overheat if there are plants and bushes around.
